Katie was born in the Quad Cities and was raised in a Christian home. While growing up, Katie was an active participant at Coram Deo, where she regularly went to weekend services and youth group. For most of her life, Katie believed in Jesus on a surface level; however, she didn’t understand the weight of His sacrifice until college.
Katie graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics with a TESL emphasis. While there, Katie was a student ambassador for the World Language Department, a student leader for the Salt Company, and a student leader for Salt’s International Friendship Connection. At college, Katie discovered her passion for connecting with people around the world and learning from them. After Katie graduated in 2023, she moved to Korat, Thailand, where she taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade English for a year and a half.
Katie’s classroom goals include cultivating students (and thinkers) who are honest, creative, and confident. After school, you can find Katie reading, tackling a puzzle, or watching a movie at home.
